She is chair of the Graduate Research Committee of the Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He is Paraguayan and professor of musicology at Texas Christian University, USA. In the first part, Krüger Bridge will reflect on the importance of the Guarani connection to Paraguayan identity. Later, Watkins will apply the discussions to a series of Paraguayan songs to examine the connection of Paraguayan identity to its mythical Guarani origin. Matt is a lecturer in Ethnomusicology at Bath Spa University, UK, and also works as a guitar teacher at Bath Spa University and Badminton School in Bristol. His lecture explores how young people in Paraguay identify with the polka as a musical influence and with particular interest in how the polka is being experienced and recreated in the 21st century, reflecting on his position as a researcher through the personal experience of arranging and performing traditional Paraguayan music from the perspective of a foreigner. Elisa holds a Bachelor's degree in Music and a Master's degree in Latin American Interdisciplinary Studies from the Federal University of Latin American Integration of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. She teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in Music at the Universidad Nacional del Este, Universidad Nacional de Caaguazú, Universidad Nacional de Villarrica and the Conservatorio de Música "Sofía Mendoza" at the Universidad Nacional de Pilar. Her lecture analyzes, through the historical-social study and the poetic discourse, the presence of these possible stereotypes towards the figure of women. Nicolás Ramírez Salaberry is a professor at the Faculty of Music of FADA-UNA, holds a master's degree in Musicology-Ethnomusicology and together with Miguel Antar, musician and researcher, who holds a master's degree and a doctorate in the Department of Music of the Faculty of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo will be in charge of the last lecture of this cycle. Both will address the socio-historical context of the Nuevo Cancionero movement, its festivals and the use of home recordings as a tool for dissemination and resistance. They will also talk about the career of Celsa Ramírez Rodas, Paraguayan harpist persecuted during Alfredo Stroessner's military dictatorship.
